CLEMENTINE'S REVIEWS

Planet Terror (2006)

A classic old school, schlocky horror, Planet Terror starts with the cheesy premise of a viral weapon turning people into evil, festering zombies, and a band of townsfolk have to battle the infected population. A great cast who really embrace their roles, with the perfect combination of uber-cheese and ham.

Rose McGowan is fun to watch as her character undergoes some drastic changes. Freddy Rodriguez is the real drawcard, as I think he's fabulously watchable in every role. It's great to see him as the hero in a big, action film. Bruce Willis, Naveen Andrews, and Marley Shelton fill out a great ensemble who really throw themselves into the genre. This is old school horror at its funniest, and far more successful than Deathproof. Robert Rodriguez is creating a B-grade horror flick which is genuinely funny and much better than the bad thrillers Hollywood has been churning out which all look and taste the same standard cardboard flavour. Rodriguez does a great job with creating an over-the-top story and corresponding directing.

You'll like this if: you miss schlocky horror and want a-grade actors in a b-grade flick.

You'll probably not like this if: exaggerated gore and guts is too much for you.
